The Torso Series is an exploration of the dynamic and complex female body. A torso-like motif that resembles a dancer’s leotard is used as a stabilizing “core.” Each composition plays with movement of intuitive marks combined with imagery derived from the prints of the German artist and naturalist, Ernst Haeckel’s Art Forms in Nature. The aim is to create an image that imaginatively interprets the interior space of the body, describing it poetically as a vessel that senses, feels, thinks, and changes.
